- Michael Oneill Review added: 2018.03.02★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I arrived at this club on my bicycle having arranged to meet some friends who were playing golf I was obviously not dressed to play golf and was not intending to do so, I had time to kill so I went into the reception/ bar area, my intention was to wait for my friends and move on to Southport for a pre arranged get together after their golf. However I was met by the steward/doorman who viewed me with suspicion and asked what I wanted in a very sarcastic manner, he pointed out that this was a golf club,good job he did as I thought I had gone back in time and thought I was in some jumped up gentleman’s club, got the distinct impression that “ you not be from round ere “ yes you have pathetic dress codes but it’s about time you all come into the real world and welcome the occasional passer by who is not there for the golf, what’s next strip search and turned away for looking undesirable, jumped up wannabes
